Steps To Track Down The Status Of Your Voters' Id Card

The voters' ID card is a government document issued by the Election Commission of India. Although the card acts as a proof of address and identity of a person but the importance of the card lies in the fact that it also acts as a proof of Indian citizenship. Voters' ID cards are also called EPIC cards. This is provided to every Indian citizen who have is reached 18 years of age and is eligible to vote and take aprt in election. Voting rights are provided under article 326 of the Indian constitution. Even though right to vote is not a fundamental duty, it is none the less a civil duty of every Indian citizen. A person can apply for a voters' ID card by filling form 6 of Election Commission and then submitting it to their Municipal Corporation or cantonment board of the area. Along with this application a person should also the necessary proof of identity, Indian nationality, age and residence. Steps To Track Down Your Voters' Id Application Form

Generally it take 4 to 5 months for your voters' ID card to reach your destination. However if if does not reach on time you can also track the status of youe application. The government of India has provided various avenues to track down your form. Some of the popular methods used are as follows:

a) Check application status online:

The online portal was opened for the convenience of the applicants. It must be noted that while using this method the information provided must match with the details provided in the application form for a voters' ID card. The steps of this method is given below:

i)Visit the official website of Electoral CEO.

ii)Click on “know the status of your application for enrollment” .

Iii) After this a form will appear on the screen. Fill in all the details in the form.

iv) You can track your application status by selecting the “national voters service portal” and then click on “search your name in electoral roll”.

v) Now enter your application number or EPIC number.

vi) You can also search state or district constituency wise.For this you are required provide your name, state and the district constituency along with other details. The search entry will result will display the status of your voters' ID card.

b) Track your application status with a simple sms:

Applicants can also check the status of their application by sending an SMS to the electoral officer. The SMS must be sent in the following format: i) Type EPIC followed by space followed by voters' ID application number. ii) Send the above message to the electoral officer from your registered mobile number. Iii) After this the status of your voters' ID card will be sent to your registered mobile number. These are few of the methods by which you can check your voters' Id card.
